The neverending saga of the Icelandic Volcano has been concluded. Well it has for me. Following a third day of doubt, uncertainty and continually pushed back time frames, I cracked. I went from being jolly in limbo, to being in limbo. And trust me, there is a big difference.
Living by my new mantra of making the most of it, I did my very best. Indeed I planted an entire vegetable patch, potatoes, onions, beans, peas, tomatoes! Following that I picked up the phone, called the USA and cancelled the trip. Prior to this I gave it a lot of thought, the signs and signals were generally that people told me to cancel. When going to the shops to buy compost, the song on the radio repeated the lyrics 'stay where you are' over and over again. I let all this sink in, and then I made that very expensive call on my mobile phone.
I took back the power and oh my gosh, I feel so free now. I am sad not to be visiting, but at least now the Volcano and its ramifications is no longer my problem. My heart goes out to all those who are wilting in airports. But I am so pleased that I am no longer in their number, a victim to a sky full of dust! I have removed myself from that vile and stressful equation.
So in true 'Making the Most of It' styleee, I have now booked a few days away with other family. If I can't see the family in America, than I'll damn well see the ones in the UK! I am off to Glastonbury with my Dad and his wife Aileen. I have always wanted to go, and they love it there. We are going to tramp up the Tor and peruse the hippy shops. I am sure I will love the place!
I wonder if any of you wonderful people have any Glastonbury gems you can share with me to further brighten my trip?
I'm off to unpack that darned suitcase I have been living out of now! Much love to you all, Alice x
