Often when people say they are 'making the most of it', they do so with a shrug of the shoulders and a sigh. Perhaps they roll their eyes up to the heavens, implying that the situation is not one of their own making.
The words, however, on their own, are actually rather positive. They show that you are willing to get the most out a life situation come hell or high water. They are unflagging, unswerving and determined. They are the words of a fighter, willing to ride life storms and garner all kinds of intrigue, excitement and adventure.
So why are we so often down and out when we utter these words? Maybe we have lost our sense of adventure. I think our 'have it all' society, tends to make us feel like failures if we literally don't 'have it all'. Whatever you version of 'having it all' is, I doubt very much that you do actually 'have it all' every minute of every day of every year. Is it not true that we are all scuttling through life trying to avoid the big hits and lapping up the good times when they roll our way? None of us actually 'have it all' because if we did we'd be bored witless and we'd soon find something new to want, need to desire and generally distract us for a few hours a week.
Let's not feel like failures just because we are 'making the most of it'. I am sure every single person alive is 'making the most' of something or some situation in their lives. Let's try to concentrate ont he positive, exhilarating aspects of 'making the most'. After all, life is one big puzzle. Most of the time the pieces don't fit quite how we envisage, and so our keen sense of symmetry is challenged. I say to hell with the symmetry! Let's enjoy this befuddled mess we call life and LITERALLY make the most of everything that comes our way good and bad.
Making the most of it is a spiritual truth translated into modern speak. We just don't always realize it. We tend to say it, or live it in a lackluster way. I imagine that we secretly imagine we won't have to 'make the most of it' forever. But we will, and that shouldn't be a bad thing.
I challenge you all to make the most of whatever life throws at you this week and this month. Live in the moment and relish every last damned second. If you are suffering then find your learning, your wisdom and utilize it to see the lessons and the good that can come from the bad. If you are happy and content, don't rest on it, party it up, see friends spread your 'making the most of it' vibe to neighbors friends and family!
Come on kids, we only live once (well in this body anyway) Make the Most of It....
Maybe you'll all check back here and let us know what you did today to make the most of whatever life threw your way!
