If you’re anything like me, you always seemed to attract the boys with broken wings thinking that if you can just "fix" them, they would be perfect.
Unfortunately after many years of wasted time and ignoring of the spirit, I realized that I could not change a man by my words and ways alone. Change must come from within and from God. If not, it can never be permanent.
I decided that I wanted to break the cycle of the type of men I was allowing into my life and try something new, because obviously what I was doing was not working for me.
I knew that God had a plan for my life and it didn't include me being in a relationship that was everything I NEVER dreamed of.
And so, I started thinking back on the words of wisdom that I had heard over the years but chose to ignore. Those words and sayings ran daily through my mind as I began dating again and searching for “Mr. Right”. It wasn’t long before I started to change my mindset and truly believe that I was worth so much more.
Here are some of the words of wisdom and sayings I heard over the years that allowed me breaking the cycle and find the man of my dreams:
-Don't give up what you want most for what you want now
-Become the person you want to marry
-Stay away from the ones you like- Meaning: Those bad boy types you’ve been attracted to have been giving you the same results-DRAMA. Open your mind to a new type of man and you will be amazed what you will find
- Surround yourself around positive people who are not jaded and still believe in love, marriage and families
-Relationships that start off fast, will end fast too
-Never settle for anything less than a temple marriage or a man who share your beliefs
- True love shouldn't make you cry
- You are worth so much more
What are some of the lessons you've learned? Let’s share and inspire one another….
I wrote a song about it called "Don't You See" - Click on my page to hear the song and get a free download on the link below
