Honoring 9-11

Today marks the 10th anniversary of  the most tragic day in American history.  A day when more than 3,000 Americans lost their lives due the actions of Islamist extremist.  After the attacks, I thought that I would  see a better America, a nation where we all stand together as one, as in the motto E pluribus unum, “out of many, one.”  But I haven’t.  What I see is a country divided, one in which we are now suspicious of our brothers and sisters, one that is racially charged.I remember going to…See More

Let's Talk Driving Under the Influence

Take a good look at the picture above.  Does it shock you?  Well this is what could happen to you if you start using drugs and alcohol.  With the death of British singing sensation Amy Winehouse and what would have been my brother Larry's 46th birthday looming, I have been giving a lot of thought to the dangers of using drugs and alcohol.  Sadly, it has become so commonplace in our society that we have become apathetic about the dangers of substance abuse.  Often when we hear that a celebrity…See More

Give Them Hell Obama!

Well by now it should be no secret that I am a Dem.  How could anyone be a Republican when 99% of their leaders have the I.Q. of a peanut.  Seriously!  Last night President Obama used the most sensible strategy to get the Republicans to come on board with Main Street logic.  He appealed to all of us as Americans to join him in an effort to end the stalemate and bring our budget in line.  Was his speech partisan?  Hell yeah!  But does it really matter?  The state of our nation is at stake.   Why…See More

Economic Meltdown: The Importance of Made in the U.S.A.

How important is a "Made in the USA" label to you? As do most Americans, I love getting a bargain, but I realize that bargain basement prices come with a bigger price tag: an economic meltdown.  Over a year ago, I wrote a Motherboard Maven post which spotlighted the need for Americans to change their attitudes.  I have changed my lifestyle, but with a budget crisis now looming, I feel the need to readjust the choices I make as a consumer and to get even more serious about buying only American…See More

Casey Anthony Verdict: Is this American Justice?

Yesterday when I heard the not guilty verdict for Casey Anthony, I sent out this tweet: Casey Anthony's verdict- no words.  Shocked, Outraged, Saddened- The 3GB Team.Today I am still speechless.  What does this verdict say about our society.  This is beyond a miscarriage of justice.  A two year old girl was murdered, and our justice system seems to be saying that it is okay to kill your own child.  How absurd?  Children are not property, nor are they disposable.  Their lives are as valuable as…See More

Gay marriage, Any Thoughts?

As a liberal and a Constitutionalist, I am proud of my home state in its recent ruling permitting same sex marriages.  I believe firmly in the separation of church and state.  My personal religious beliefs will never get in the way of my fundamental belief in our Constitution.  I don’t understand why everyone expects my religious convictions to trump my political beliefs.  To me, they are and should always remain separate.  To say that I uphold the right of gay and transgender to marry should…See More
