Vivian Kirkfield said… - I think one of the best things about homeschooling is that one doesn't have to follow the "normal" school year...summertime may be one of the best learning opportunities for young children and homeschooling parents can take advantage of that. Many parents with children in public education view the summer (and other vacation times) as a holiday from learning...and that's why kids "forget" so much and have to relearn in September. Most homeschooling parents view every day and every experience (shopping, visit to the dentist, trip to a relative's house) as an opportunity to learn. :) My hat is off to parents who make the homeschooling decision...it is more work in the short-term, but I believe it can be more rewarding for parent and child in the long-run.
