The Facts about Direct Marketing

By Sabrina Sandoval

Direct Marketing is a $29.6 Billion Dollar Industry in the United States and over half of that income get's paid to Women each year. Research shows that 85% of Marketers show good, very good or excellent experience with Direct Marketing. So why is it that most people do not succeed when it comes to Direct Marketing?

Well I wanted to clarify what Direct Marketing is so we can get to the bottom of this question. Direct Marketing is a form of advertising that reaches its audience without using traditional formal channels of advertising, such as TV, newspapers, or radio. Businesses communicate straight to the consumer with advertising techniques such as fliers, catalogue distribution, promotional letters, and street advertising.

Most people do not succeed in Direct Marketing for three reasons...

  1. Lack of knowledge and self education.
  2. Product or service is one that the average person does not need nor want.
  3. Dedication and Consistency.

To be successful in Direct Marketing you must educate yourself! No if's, ands or buts' about it. You need to be knowledgeable about the product, service and industry. Others must find you to be equipped to answer their questions and to be thorough. This means you need to find time each day to grow yourself into a leader in the industry in which you are marketing.
Ensure that the product or service that your marketing is one that families need and want. In today's economy we are at an all time high of families being without an income. This leads to a very strict budget. Ensure that what your marketing is something that every family needs, runs out of and will repurchase on a month to month babses.

In my personal opinion Dedication and Consistency is KEY to being successful in Direct Marketing. 77% of Direct Marketers have been in the industry for over a year. With any home business it takes time to build yourself up as well as your income. Consistency means doing the same activities each day, over and over again, to enable you to enhance your area of expertise.

It is necessary for you to put these three steps into action each day! You must make a conscience effort to become a Direct Marketer. Set realistic goals for yourself as well as a time frame in which you can achieve these goals. Nearly 15.2 Million people are involved in Direct Marketing in the United States, it's now up to You to decide if you want to be one of them!

Such great information Sabrina.  I truly believe, after working from home as an entrepreneur for 3 years, that dedication and consistency will make or break your success!  I think most people who have reached their goals in life, whether it is money, a business, or something different altogether, they will tell you that dedication and discipline were huge factors in getting them there.

Wow Sabrina!! You touch on what I have been trying to get across to our members. You must know your market and your competition's!! Consistency is equally very important and you have to do this each and every day with Twitter and Facebook. YES, they are extremely important. Also, having a specialty product makes it so much harder. Try to find something that works for the masses!!

When I started Divacafe, I decided to target ALL women!! There is something for every female here and that is what makes is so much easier for me!! Thanks so much for this informative article!
