I could not believe the cost of my grocery shopping last week. I don't think I have ever spent that much on a weekly shop.
Ok, so there were one or two items that were a tad surplice to requirements... Like the super-dooper salad cutter. (A knife has sufficed since the day I discovered lettuce, but how and ever.... I digress...)
This week I was determined to spend less. So I wrote my list and kept it to the essentials.
But when I got to the store I realised two things.
1. My husband was 3 hours away with the credit card
2. I'd left the list at home
Harrumph!
So... after borrowing some money from my sister I went to work trying to remember what I needed, keeping in mind the limited amount of cash I had. For some reason, though I left the list at home, I brought the pen! So I added up all the prices as I went along; writing them on the back of my hand. (In a certain light you can still see the numbers on my hand; even though I have scrubbed!) Problem was that by the time I got all the things that sprang immediately to mind... goodies... I didn't have enough for some of the... important items... washing powder and the like.
There were great deals on stuff that I never usually buy and... oh no! I did it again.
And what’s worse, I just got back and realized that I didn’t buy any toilet paper! Hubby will have to get it when he gets back.
Til then... I suppose I’ll just have to tighten my belt!!! :)
