Thanks Jenny! I had never heard of allergic reactions to all formulas. I think your mom did the only thing that was available.:)

I almost died when I was a baby because I was allergic to a key ingredient in all formulas. My mother had already "dried up" by the time they found out what it was. Luckily we ran out of a special formula that they were trying out (it wasn't working) and my mother desperately tried cows milk. Miraculously my body didn't reject it so i survived. My mother knew cow's milk it dangerous to infants before a certain age but under the circumstances there was really nothing else to try. I think it would be safest to breast feed at least the first two weeks for the antibodies being transferred to the baby and SLOWLY introduce formula to make sure the baby can sustain herself on it. I know this is a dramatic post but i felt like i had to share this story because it could save a life.

I agree Lisa. I breast fed and formula fed my first born. I was never able to get the pumping down and I was still working. The second child was solely breastfed. I think it is the best, at least for me.

Breast feeding is the BEST thing for your baby nothing beats that, but some people just can't or won't breast feed some are afraid of gravity:)
