In these hard times we have to come up with
better and more clever ways to save money. I have
found a better and cheaper way to save money on some of the
products I regularly purchase simply by adding water! Using these
simple tips you will save money and buy these products less
often.
Hair Conditioner -- I bought a 25.4 oz bottle of Pantene for
Medium-Thicke Hair (on sale and with a coupon) at my
local Drug Store. I saved the empty bottle I had and
filled the bottle halfway with water and halfway with the
conditioner from the new bottle. Then I added water to the new
bottle. Shake both bottles well. The conditioner worked
just as well on my hair even though it was diluted. It was
easier to rinse out and it didn't feel as slimy as it did at full
strength.
Liquid Fabric Softener -- If your liquid fabric softener is
thick. You can dilute it the same way you did with the hair
conditioner. Your laundry will still come out soft and cling
free.
Fruit Juices -- I got this tip from Dr. Oz's show.
Almost all fruit juices contain too much sugar. Dr. Oz says you
should dilute it to lower the sugar and to get more out of every
bottle you buy. Save your empty bottle and pour 1/4 to 1/3 of
juice into it. This will depend on the brand you buy and how
sugary your juice is. Add a little bit of water at a time to
that bottle and taste it until you feel you have added enough
water, but have not lost the flavor of the juice. Fill the
new bottle of juice with water and shake. Dr. Oz says you
will still get the benefits of the vitamins from the diluted
juice.
Milk -- If you buy whole milk or 2% milk, add a cup of water
to the jug as the level goes down. Add another cup of water when it
is half empty. No one will notice the difference! 2 more
cups of milk means 4 more bowls of cereal!
Popsicles -- Don't buy popsicles or freeze pops.
Instead, invest in plastic popsicle molds. I got 2 of my 4
pop molds on clearance for .78 cents each at Target a few
years ago. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond a few weeks ago
and bought another 4 pop mold for about $3.00. I buy the
little packets of Kool-Aid or Flavor-Aid and mix 3/4 cup sugar to 2
quarts water. You will get a lot of popsicles out of 2 quarts and
save money! You can use Splenda and they still taste
great! (The package directions will tell you to mix 1 cup
sugar to 2 quarts, but that is too much.)
There are so many ways you can save money simply by adding
water to the products you already buy. Try
it!
