Are you ready to take control of your life and be your own boss? Good for you, do not let the fear of the unknown put you on a path of failure. Being independent and self-sufficient can be one of the greatest, fulfilling, and most rewarding accomplishments. Now that you are ready to take that step towards your own future let’s talk small steps towards Success!

I always ask every new member of my team, what is your why? Are you making this decision of working for yourself to have more time with your family? Are you looking to get recognition for your accomplishments? Maybe you are just looking to add some additional income to your household. Whatever it is you are doing this for is important in your steps to success. Everyone has a different goal and a “why” that is personalized to their dream. Knowing this will help you in reaching the goal of your “why”.

Whatever your “why” is, take it out of your head and put it on paper. You can write it down but I suggest you take a 12 x12 piece of scrapbooking paper and put it on that. Add your monopoly money if you are looking for additional income, add the picture of the cute car you would like to buy, add the dream home you hope to have in your future and of course add that picture of your family that you may want more time with. Hang this on your wall in any place that you will see it on a daily basis.

Now it is time to create that plan of action. Reflecting on your “why” start writing down what your goals are. Everyone needs goals and they should have short term and long term goals. Maybe you want to start by earning enough money to pay the cell phone bills, or maybe you need to save x amount of dollars a month for y amount of months to take that vacation. Whatever your goals are put them in writing. Goals will change so do not worry about them being a permanent thing; it is just a starting point. Your goal list will increase as you create your plan of action to include other goals such as x amount of sales to make y amount of money.

Now you got your “why”, you got your written goals, time to move on to what it is going to take to reach those goals. Friends and family will be of some help in the launch of your new journey but it will not carry you to the fulfilling career you are looking to achieve. That is where marketing and networking will come into play. How are you going to get exposure to your products or services?

I always recommend a Facebook page with your products and services, of course becoming a member of Diva Café and establishing a Twitter account can be a great start to increasing awareness of your products or services. Consistency is key; you have to work your business daily. Nothing will happen overnight, so do not get discouraged but consistently work at your business daily planting the seed and you will grow!

Interact with the people you meet on your Facebook page and Diva Café. Get involved with the Twitter chats happening. The more exposure and interaction you have with people, the more people you will be reaching. Step out of your comfort zone, set a goal to approach 5 strangers in a supermarket or department store each day. Doing something is better than doing nothing. Evaluate your progress in networking, if what you are doing is not working, change it up a bit.

If you want it, you can have it! If what you are doing is not working, try a different approach. Know your “why” establish your goals and plan out your actions to reach your goals. Evaluate your plan of action and fine tune as needed and you will be on your way to a successful you!
