Before you know it the holidays will be over but rest assured you’ll feel the cool sting of winter lurking around – still – for some of us it’s just not wintery enough… especially if you reside in sunny places like Florida. Some say the best part about winter is being able to don a fierce pair of boots and a trendy scarf. - So most folks who are long over due for a vacation and love a good chill in the air may crave a frosty getaway – just so they can get the real effect of the season. If you happen to be such a person…you’re in luck! I’ve discovered some destinations that are gonna be a real treat to the “cold” lovers out there.
*First up…why New York of course! I know – I know…everybody wants to visit the big city and it can almost sound cliché and unexceptional as far as “vacations” go. But there’s a reason why people flock to the N-Y during the holidays. For starters – you’ll get that wintery feeling. Everywhere you turn you’ll see everyone bundled up & You’ll never run out of things to do. You’ve got art galleries, Broadway shows, all night eateries and lots of shopping, not to mention some of the best hotels if you’ve got a little extra to spend. And just so ya know New York throws some of the most exotic, wild and fun end of the year parties on the planet. There’s no in-between with this New Years Eve crowd. You’re either big enough to handle it or you’ll be boarding a plane and heading back home around that time. Either way you’ll be glad you made the trip.
*Next up…Greenland. Oh come on! It’s not so far fetched. If you like the whole rolling in the snow thing then you’ll be pleased to know that even though Greenland does have summer – like weather at certain times of the year… during the winter months it can get really cold. It should definitely satisfy your frost craving while satisfying the photographer in you. Using up that roll of film should be a breeze. There are so many awestruck sights to behold. Boat trips are offered to tourists who want to get up close and personal with amazing waterfalls and glaciers. If you’re brave enough to tackle the cold air in the raw you’ll want to take advantage of the many hiking tours or try your hand at kayaking (tip – hiring a licensed kayak instructor is a smart move). And if you just wanna stay inside, you’ll find many hotels have an excellent view. I can imagine it can be quite romantic … Whale watching from your room window while cuddling with your honey is the ultimate thrill.
*Okay last but not least – in fact there are way more destinations to explore but I’ll only share this last one with you. Denver, Colorado. No it’s not always blasting cold air but when it does you’ll definitely feel it. Oh and Colorado is beautiful! You’ll be able to take it all in as you choose from many options of leisure and exciting activities to engage in. You may want to go skiing or snowboarding with the family, spend some holiday cash along the Cherry Creek Shopping District – which you simply must visit, check out a nice spa and enjoy a warm oil body massage or be entertained by the Arts and check out the Denver Performing Arts Complex. And there’s a lot to get into on the outskirts and right outside of Denver such as casinos and other outdoor recreation - Seriously who could ask for anything more.
Now if you’re clever you’ll find ways to make your Winter a Wonderland without having to travel too far or at all…but if you’d rather get away for a while and feel the need to swaddle yourself in cute oversized coats – there’s a chilly city somewhere awaiting your arrival so bundle up and have a blast!
