While there are many ways to avoid success in life,
but the most guaranteed way might be procrastination.
Procrastinators ultimately sabotage themselves. They put obstacles
in their own path. They actually choose paths that hurt their
performance.
Twenty percent of people identify themselves as chronic procrastinators. For them procrastination is a lifestyle, albeit a maladaptive one. And it cuts across all domains of their life. They don't pay bills on time. They miss opportunities for buying tickets to concerts. They don't cash gift certificates or checks. They file income tax returns late. They leave their Christmas shopping until Christmas eve. (Excerpt from psychology today)
Here are some Warning signs That Procrastination may be hindering you…
* Do you have an impossible list to complete or do you maintain multiply lists going at the same time. If you do a suggestion might be to separate them into:
-Must do
- Can Do
-Can do later
-Create a Most important things to do list each night before
* Do you Tell yourself things like “I have to do”
* This can cause you to be unproductive due to the stress you are telling yourself you must do.
* Do you suffer from Insomnia? Do you have trouble relaxing?
* This can cause tension which in turn will not allow you to completely relax keeping you under the gun at all times.
* Are you realistic with your time? Do you talk about things like I’ll do this next week, next month? Do you lose track of your time?
* Do you have an empty Schedule with no clear goals for the week set out?
* Try working with a weekly plan sheet for each week. Fill it out on Sunday for the week. That way you feel like you have a sense of accomplishment.
* Have you defined your goals and values?
* Everyone has Values that we live by and hold close to us. Remember you can’t build on what you don’t have laid out.
* Do you have a Hard Time staying committed to projects?
* You must have a Clear Written out Blueprint on where you want to go and what your expectations are to get you where you want to go. This will keep you on track. Remember you might have a goal but if it is not defined you will not be focused.
Remember Procrastinators can change their behavior—but doing so can sometimes consume a lot of energy. So be sure to define what it is you are trying to obtain weather it is a personal goal, family goal, financial goal, weight goal. No matter what it is you must define it and get focused in order to avoid the trap of procrastination.
I hope you have enjoyed this brief list of some things that may be holding you back from achieving your goals. You so deserve success.
