Do you give your pet vitamins?

I am wondering if I should start giving my dog vitamins. He is 8 1/2 years old now and maybe he needs additional nutrients?? What do you think?

Both kitties were rescued kitties, the dog I inherited from my daughter. She is a Bischon Frise....and is adorable. Am considering pet insurance but am finding it ridiculously expensive. Yikes.
