I think I deserve to win, because I know that I deserve to get ME back! I recently created this photo collage:I know most people create collages of their weightloss, but I needed to see for myself the direction my health had taken. These photos are over a span of less than 10 years. The last 2 are within a span of less than a year. I'm not sure the cause, but during that time I developed PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), PreDiabetes, and heart issues. I became very depressed. I'd always been small...98 pounds until I was 23, and 120 after my fourth child! There were a lot of factors and a lot of possibilities, but I'm not sure I'll never know the answer. My gut (pardon the pun) tells me it's a combination of all factors...including the depression of gaining and lack of exercise, due to the depression. My biggest purpose for posting those pictures is accountability. I've never shown people full body pictures of myself after the weight gain. My ego makes me want to prove to everyone that sees them that I can get back to the first picture! So, here's hoping, here's trying, and hopefully...here's SUCCESS!
Susan!
You are such a beautiful person. Sorry about your depression. I have suffered from it as well and have just started feeling like my old self again... I take that back... a better NEW Self:)
Good luck with the contest and I love your creativity with this collage!! What a great idea!!

1. Tell us why you think you should win this contest and what your plans are to stay motivated. Gia will be judging your submissions:) Please post this here!
I want to win this contest because I committed to losing weight which started a year and a half ago. After 2 kids, I gained 50+ pounds, and used the "I just had a baby" excuse until I didn't even believe it myself. So far I have started exersizing at least 2-3 times a week during my lunch break or taking a walk around the office buildings and I lost 30 pounds so far! I'm down to after the first child size. My weight loss was the result of exersize, I didn't change my diet drastically at all. I have to give credit to my workout buddy and co-worker, its so much easier witha buddy system. Now I am more focused on eating for health so my desired weight will come about sooner than a year and a half. My motivation is knowing I will not have to shop in the plus size section anymore. Also eating the right things will help me live a longer, and keep up with the kids for years to come.
I'm only 25 pounds away from my goal, but for the first time it seems attainable. I intend to change my diet by eating more fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, fich and chicken. I cut my red meat intake except for the ocassional cheeseburger, eventually I want to stop red meat all together. This has been a process and I still have a long journey to go. I have learned that rigid diets don't work for me, Diet pills don't work for me, but exersize, staying active and good food choices work for me and I will develop that knowledge into a healthier and slimmer life.
Oh, no! Sorry!
Yes, the diet's been the easy part! It's the exercise that's killing me! I could once do 400 crunches without breaking a sweat, now I can barely do 50 without feeling like someone's punched me right in the gut!
What I've done so far is limit (nearly to the point of cutting out) my soda intake, eat little to no processed foods, and cut out red meat. I already eat a lot of fruit, and I rarely eat bread. What I plan on doing next is increasing my water intake (I live in the South, so sweet tea and coffee are the bulk of the liquid I take in), eat more leafy greens, and add some color to my plate. I already eat a lot of veggies, but sometimes it's the same old bland green beans, carrots, and the like. I'm trying to convince my family to try one new vegetable a week. When I discovered that I had PreDiabetes, it was a real kick in the butt to try to start changing my eating habits. I'm still learning, but I'm a far cry from the french fries and double cheeseburgers I once knew!

Permalink Reply by Dannell McGowen on April 25, 2010 at 9:20am Sure did! I planned on visiting the site by Friday to finish my profile and set up everything. I'm a beginning of the week starter. I hate starting things in the middle of the week! It's an OCD thing. LOL
