Today, I'd like everyone to take a few minutes and think about money.  Yes, it's paper and green, or medal and silver or copper color.  But what I really want you to think about is, what is it to…Continue

Hey lovely divas!  I'd like to try to save your households money on something that you need and use every month!   Those pesky monthly bills just keep coming and coming every month! lol.  I may be able to help you at least lower some energy bills if you live in CA, TX, IL, MD, PA, NY or CT go to: My Savings Site and enter your zip code to see if you can start saving!  Please let me know if you have any ?'s at all!  Sign up is simple and online!  Nothing changes with service just potential savings!.  Thanks and have a great day!

Julie has taken a break from DivaCafe it seems so if anyone would like to create a few discussions on "How to Save Money" , we would all be most appreciative!

Hi Julie,

I'm looking forward to your topic on budgeting.  We are in need of a budget badly.  Everytime I get one started, we never seem to follow through.  My husband is self-employed & we always have trouble with the "tax thing".  We never seem to be able to put any money bk for taxes bc we need it to pay other bills.  Especially, if we get behind.  I guess there's no easy answer except you have to pay the tax man.  I know we should just look at that money as money that isn't ours but that's easier said than done when you have things to pay.  What is Financial Peace University that was mentioned?  Thanks for this group.  I know it is going to be a big help for so many, myself included!

Hi Julie,
Thanks for starting this group! I'm looking forward to your posts and discussions. I am a WAHM in direct sales. Any suggestions/advice you have for this industry would be especially helpful.

Something that I do for saving "mad money" for vacations...you know, all the stuff you buy for gifts for family or friends...or maybe just yourself....I never spend my change for purchases. Instead, at the end of the day, week, whatever...I throw it all into a big jar in my room. I never miss it but you can accumulate several hundred dollars in no time. You can use this for your food budget or excursions, etc.

Congrats on all of your progress!

Julie,
I opened up another Savings account this week. I'm using it save for Vacation. I just started it with $100 and I'm going to add money to every payday. Do you have any money saving tips for vacations?

You're welcome, Kristy. And thank you! I'm so happy to hear that you're taking your finances seriously. I think most people just aren't educated enough about money. Money is simply a tool. More on that later!

Congratulations on your accomplishments!

Thanks Julie,

Looks like I'm on the right track. We both have savings accounts linked to our checking and cash in a fire proof safety box with our social cards and marriage license... and we're looking at a MMA. But the Gun safe idea is great. I never thought of someone carrying off our box!!!
I also think a years with does make sense. It's just going to take a long time to build it. But well worth it. Especially if we add a child to the picture.
I'm so Glad to have Financial Diva here!
Thanks,
Kristy

Erika, you have come to the right place. Your question is one that will be covered in a lengthy topic on budgeting soon. But I'll give you the short answer...give yourself to permission to blow $$ but only the amount that you can "blow" is what you have allocated as "mad money". Mad money is not to come from any other budget area. It can not come from your food money, gas money, or etc. You need to have your "mad money" in cash only (in an envelope)...once that cash is gone, no more shopping. Even if it's only $5 a week...it's something and you won't feel deprived. It sounds to me like your struggling a little bit with a self-destructive nature...I only say that because I've been there. You have a plan to save money and the next thing you know...you've spent money on something else. Sometimes we can sabotage our own efforts to make progress. If you decide how much money you "allow" yourself to spend on a weekly basis it'll be much easier to stick to a plan. Also, make sure that your saving goals are realistic...you have to believe in your goals to make them happen!
Thank you so much for asking that question...it's a monster for more people than you might think.

HEY DIVAS!!!!!

HERE IS MY DILEMMA (LOL!)

I HAVE CAME TO MY SENSES AND FOUND OUT SOMETHING ABOUT MYSELF... I AM AN IMPULSE BUYER! I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE REASON WHY I HAVE BEEN HAVING SERIOUS TROUBLE WITH SAVING MONEY OR BEING ABLE TO SAVE ANY MONEY. IT'S LIKE WHEN I WOULD NEED TO SAVE MY MONEY I WOULD BUY THINGS THAT I WOULDN'T REALLY NEED AT THAT TIME OR WHEN I AM GOING TO SAVE MY MONEY, I WOULD NEED IT FOR SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TO HAVE FOR THE HOUSE OR FOR MY FAMILY(EXAMPLE: WIPES, PULL-UPS, OR CLOTHES FOR MY SON)

SO,
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT ARE GOOD HABITS, RESOURCES, OR TECHNIQUES I CAN USE THAT CAN HELP ME CONQUER THIS THING!!!

LET ME KNOW!!!
