Looking to make a difference.

Hi,
I am new to this site, I joined about 5 minutes ago and loving it.
I am 20 years about to be 21 and I kind of feel a void in my life. I feel so passionately about making a difference and helping people. I just don't know how to get involved or where to start. I have gone through a lot of events in my life and would love to help people get through or even prevent them from doing the same thing as me. If anyone has any ideas on how to help or if even you need help, ask me for advice.

Welcome Megan....I think life is full of Hills and Valleys. A crisis is about to happen, is happening or just happened. The best we can do is look for support when we need it, and offer support when we find others in need. Looking forward to chatting with you! Lynn

I would look for volunteer programs in your area...such as the boys and girls club, big brothers big sisters, red cross, or homeless or battered women shelters....

hey megan...i know what you mean. i want to help as well with areas, but still dont know how to do so. my thing is most volunteer stuff is about getting around and i dont have transportation so i would have to do something from home, and that is pretty much unheard of. i would type in whatever type of work you'd like to do and see what they have in your city.

what helped me make a difference is i joined a church.. every 1st sat of the month we go feed the homless, is a wonderful feeling =)

Megan,

I understand! I run a non-profit, because I wanted to do just that. We're growing (surprisingly fast, actually) and doing all sorts of cool new things every month. Come check it out-if you don't find a place to get plugged in, you might get some ideas for other things you want to do. :-)

Finding meaning in life is a long, wonderful process. Asking for help shows that you're already way ahead in the game!
