Let's Talk Halloween!

I would love to hear from others how you celebrate Halloween, including stuff like decorations, special food, costumes, what the kids do, etc.

I am a "more is more" person in terms of decorations, but I have a husband to rein me in. Otherwise I would totally have an inflatable Snoopy on the front lawn popping out of a pumpkin.

Actually, we keep it pretty traditional on Halloween - pumpkins, flickering "candles" (those battery-operated tea lights, love them), fun Halloween foods.

This year, DS1 (7) says he wants to be a fruit bat. Hm. DD wants to be an angel, ins't that cute? And DS2 has been saying for months that he wants to be ... what was it? Oh no, I forgot. I'll ask him later.

OK, I asked DS2 and he wants to be a Knight! I need to come up wiht a cheap, easy-to-make knight costume!

I would love to hear what everyone's kids want to be on Halloween. I'm glad my daughter changed to angel, it seems a lot easier than a mermaid. Seems like a white nightgown would do the trick. It's getting the halo to stand up that's tricky. I might buy that.

I love fall and halloween so I decorate as much as I can depending on where I am and how much I can spend. This year not much but my daughter has plenty. We also eat lots of Pumpkin brownies that we make. The kids go trick or treating with daughter and her husband while I stay home and hand out candy to the little ghosties and ghoulies, not to mention the princesses, ballerinas, pirates, superheros, etc...

Hi Paulette! I've never stayed home and handed out candy - I guess when my kids get bigger I'll get to. In my neighborhood in Brooklyn, people sit on their stoops giving out candy. It's nice because they get to watch the whole scene. What's your recipe for Pumpkin brownies? I've never even heard of that. Would you consider sharing it with other Halloween enthusiasts on my blog, http://realfamilytime.blogspot.com/ ?
