So... should you "sell" to your friends... no. you should ask them for help, "can you help me by arranging a party for me?" You should show off your items in a casual, FRIENDLY way.... Hey check out this new "product" - I got it from my business... respect them. ASK if they want to be on your mailing list... treat them like GOLD because they are your best source for quality referrals in the future!
If you want to build your network of business friends, with respect and support - check out my website! We are always looking for new business women to get to know and help!

As an experienced Network Marketing professional, in the sales and marketing industry for 10yrs, selling to friends and family is not an effective way to build a business. Like Cj mentioned, seeking their help to spread the word or introducing you to their circle is a better approach.
Not to say your friends won't buy from you, but if you want to build a sustainable business, your steady sales come from the networking relationships you develop and partnerships you create within your market.
I show women how to develop a solid network and marketing strategies to build a profitable business online and offer training and resources on my blog: http://theceomamma.com
